Potala Palace

Symbolic of Tibet, Potola Palace was the historical main residence of the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism, the Dalai Lama. This mini city unto itself is replete with colorful 7th and 17th century architecture. The Grand Palace covers an area of over 30,000 square feet, is nearly 350-feet high with over 1,000 rooms that includes shrines, monuments, halls, seminary, printing shop and dormitories for resident monks and guests. It is a destination of cultural and historical significance, as well as a spiritual sanctuary. The art and beauty that is infused in everything--from building design to furnishings and artwork---is found nowhere else in the world.
